  • Overview

    The Patient Account Representative is responsible for answering incoming calls from patients to take payments, answer questions, troubleshoot problems and provide information. The Patient Account Representative ensures that all sensitive correspondences are handled quickly and in the appropriate manner as outlined by client requirements.

    • Professionally answer calls from patients
    • Respond to customer inquiries in a timely manner
    • Research required information using available resources
    • Address and resolve customer complaints and concerns
    • Provide customers with product and service information
    • Update account information as necessary
    • Process payments, forms and applications
    • Identify and escalate priority issues
    • Route calls to appropriate resource
    • Follow up on customer calls when and where necessary
    • Other duties as requested by management based on business needs
    • Adhere to company attendance requirements and work assigned schedule.
    • Adhere to all company policies and work standards.
    • Ability to sit and use a computer and phone for long periods of time.
    • Communicate effectively with all patients, managers and employees.


    • Six months or more experience in a call center environment
    • Strong customer service skills
    • Understanding of insurance processes and terminology (i.e. claims, denials, appeals, EOB, medical billing, and cpt/dx/mx codes)
    • Familiarity with HIPAA
    • Possess alternative funding resource knowledge
    • Experience with standard computer applications
    • Good data entry/keyboard skills
    • Knowledge of customer service principles and practices
    • Knowledge of call center telephony and technology
    • Strong listening, verbal and written communication skills
    • Excellence problem analysis and problem solving
    • Customer services oriented with strong organization, prioritization, attention to detail, initiative, adaptability, judgment and teamwork.
